Alpabzug, also known as the Swiss Cow Descent, is a traditional autumn celebration marking the return of cattle from high Alpine pastures to the valleys below. Throughout Switzerland, villages welcome the herds home with flower-crowned cows, enormous cowbells, folk music, local food, markets, and community festivities.
